Indochino Traveling Tailor Miami Review

I recently had the opportunity to visit Indochino’s traveling tailor in Miami. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the Traveling Tailor, it is a pop up shop Indochino sets up in various cities around the country (and canada). The storefront is open for 7-14 days average and allows clients to come in and experience Indochino’s clothing in person. The inherent pros here are that it gives indochino, an online corporation, a more human feel. Also, this allows for people who may be skeptical of an online custom suit to preview everything in store and place their first order with a (so called) trained stylist.

It becomes immediately apparent from the aesthetic in the building that you’re not at Menswear house or some other dinky cookie cutter suit store. Indochino has as beautiful a presence in person as on the web. A minimalist theme complimented by exposed lighting rigs and an intimate display of their wears have all been masterfully laid out. I enjoyed the atmosphere and got caught up in feeling the fabrics. I must have groped a dozen suits. Then I began to delve into the details with my “stylist” and I quickly realized that he was little more than a trained parrot.

The stylist was a very nice guy, but he only knew so much as indochino had bothered to send him with his hiring papers, a basic education. He could tell me where the wool was from & what the super # was not much beyond that. When I asked him about the lapel roll on an indochino suit his face went blank, he turned ghost white, and by the end of our talk I’m certain he learned more from me than I did from him. This does not inspire confidence.

Finally, I would like to say that I own indochino garments & they may be the big player in this space, but they are from the best. I can’t really say I’m a fan of their so/so construction.
